Biography
Dr. Errol C. Baptist is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ceylon, Colombo, and he received his pediatric training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey. Dr. Baptist is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a Fellow of the American College of Pediatricans. He specializes in the treatment of infants, children, and young adults, and he has a special interest in the care of high-risk newborns, infections diseases, and rare illnesses.
In addition to running his private practice, Dr. Baptist is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois, College of Medicine at Rockford -- a role for which he has been awarded the Raymond B. Allen Instructorship Award 20 times. In 1997 he received the University of Illinois College of Medicine Distinguished Teaching Award, and in 2006 he was awarded the college's Distinguished Service Award. He is widely published in medical journals, and he is the author of a textbook for medical students.
Dr. Baptist is the Pediatric Department Chairman and the Director of the Level-II Nursery at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He is also on the staff of Swedish American Hospital and Rockford Memorial Hospital.
When he is not at his office, the medical school, or the hospital, Dr. Baptist enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies and interests include music, history, religion, politics, harmonica playing, and international issues.
